WW3 fears have exploded once more with Russia chillingly warning the US and other NATO members of “purposeful provocation” over the provision of fighter jets to Ukraine.
The Kremlin slammed the new fleet of F-16 aircraft as a move that could threaten to escalate the war into a nuclear conflict.
While the fighter jets can accommodate nuclear weapons in certain configurations, Kyiv does not possess a nuclear arsenal – nor have allies who do possess nuclear weapons suggested they plan to share their arsenal with Ukraine.
In a statement denouncing the arrival of the new fighter jets, the Russian Foreign Ministry warned that “the regime in Kyiv and its Western sponsors should realise that their reckless steps are bringing the situation closer to the point where it will attain ‘critical mass’ and explode.”
The F-16s will help Kyiv update the battered fleet of Soviet-era planes it has been using to counter Russian aggressions since the start of the war.
