PM Narendra Modi is on a two-day official visit to Russia. The 73-year-old met Russian president Vladimir Putin and in the latest events, he addressed the Indian diaspora in Moscow, where he mentioned the Indian team’s triumph in T20 World Cup 2024. 

The Rohit Sharma-led side beat South Africa in the finals on June 29 in Barbados. On July 4, the Indian side returned to the country, where they landed in the national capital before heading to PM’s residence in Lok Kalyan Marg.

Modi interacted with the players and the support staff and was proud of Men in Blue’s achievement. In the latest events, addressing the Indian diaspora, the Indian PM took pride in India’s triumph. 

“You all must have celebrated India’s T20 World Cup victory. Did you? Or did you not? Were you all proud or not? There is a real story and a road towards the World Cup triumph. Today’s youth and the youth of India do not give up till the last ball and last moment. The victory kisses those feet who are not ready to give up. The feeling is not just limited to cricket but is also evident in other sports.”

India Today shared the PM’s speech on their Twitter handle during the meet with the Indian disapora. As soon as Modi mentioned about the Indian side, the crowd erupted in joy. 

With the win, India ended their 11-years-drought of an ICC trophy, as before the T20 World Cup win, Champions Trophy 2013 was the last trophy won by the Men in Blue.
