The men’s boxing competitions at the BRICS Games 2024 in Kazan have concluded. Among the tournament winners were two Armenian athletes representing Russia: Volodia Mnatsakanyan (48 kg) and Andrey Peglivanian (57 kg).
In the semifinals, Mnatsakanyan defeated Azerbaijani boxer Tural Sariyev with a score of 5-0, and in the final, he triumphed over Shodiordjon Melkuziev from Uzbekistan. Andrey Peglivanian defeated Kyrgyz boxer Sanzhay Saidakmatov in the semifinals, also with a score of 5-0, and went on to defeat Uzbekistan’s Khudoynazar Fayzov in the final.
Also competing in the tournament was Bahodir Jalolov from Uzbekistan, a participant in the upcoming 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. The reigning world champion and Tokyo Olympic champion confidently secured the gold medal at the BRICS Games.
Russian and Uzbek athletes dominated the boxing tournament, winning 8 gold medals for Russia, 4 for Uzbekistan, with an additional gold going to a boxer from Abkhazia.
