The Yerevan “Urartu” has traveled to Estonia for the Conference League match against “Kalev” without six Russian players who were unable to obtain visas.
This was announced by the head coach of the Armenian team, Dmitry Gunko, who has an Armenian passport and was therefore able to fly to Tallinn with the team.
According to the head coach of “Urartu,” two Russians would have missed the game due to injuries anyway, but four players were ready to play but could not obtain visas to travel to Estonia.
Thus, the match against “Kalev” will be missed by the team’s main goalkeeper Aleksandr Melikhov, central defender Aleksandr Putsko, attacking midfielder Oleg Polyakov, as well as forwards Anton Kilin, Leon Sabua, and Ivan Ignatyev.
There are significant losses in the attack and goalkeeper positions. Oleg Polyakov has always played a very important role in “Urartu’s” game, while Leon Sabua and Ivan Ignatyev are the only nominal central forwards on the team’s roster.
