Russian President Vladimir Putin on May 16 arrived in Beijing for a 2-day State visit to China. It is Vladimir Putin’s first overseas visit after his recent victory in the Russian Presidential Election. This is the latest sign of deepening relations between Russia, China in the face of heavy friction with West. As per CNN, Ukraine war, expanding trade, security will be key issues during the meeting of Xi Jinping, Putin. It will be the fourth in-person meeting between Xi, Putin since Ukraine war and Putin’s 2nd visit to Beijing. Notably, Beijing has never condemned Russia’s aggression, rather it claimed ‘neutrality’ in the conflict. Besides meeting with Xi in Beijing, Putin is also expected to visit Harbin, where he will attend trade and cooperation forums.
