Russia, Indonesia to hold first naval exercise | Caliber.Az

From 4 to 8 November, the city of Surabaya, East Java province, will host the first joint exercises of the Indonesian and Russian navies.

The announcement came from Vice Admiral Denih Hendrata, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.

According to him, the first bilateral exercise will be called “Orruda-2024”. Denih Hendrata emphasised that this is the first joint exercise with Russia since Indonesia’s independence.

Three ships from both sides are expected to be involved. The exercise will consist of a base phase in Surabaya and a sea phase to be held in the Java Sea area.

Earlier, the Indonesian president said that he considered Russia a great friend and would like to continue developing relations. For his part, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he planned to continue developing foreign trade and economic relations and expand them, including with Egypt and the UAE.
