Rostec Corporation is developing promising hybrid and electric power plants for unmanned aerial vehicles. This is reported in Rostec.
It is noted that the innovative approach will allow assembling various power plants with a capacity of up to one and a half MW from individual components. The engines are planned to be installed on transport drones, air taxis and vertical and ultrashort takeoff and landing aircraft.
“Promising developments will be based on a hybrid power plant (HSU) with a built-in capacity of 500 kW, created on the basis of the new VK-650V aircraft engine. The GSU includes gas turbine and electric motors, an electric generator, rechargeable batteries and power electronics,” the corporation’s telegram channel says.
Now the hybrid power plant is undergoing comprehensive bench tests, Rostec plans to complete development work and begin its serial production in the next 3-5 years.
