Russian wrestler Zaurbek Sidakov will not compete at the Olympic Games in Paris. This was reported by Muhammad Naimov, a Tajik UFC fighter.

The reasons why Sidakov will not be able to compete at the 2024 Olympics have not yet been reported, but it is known that the wrestler previously suffered an injury. One of the reasons may be the decision of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). On June 15, the IOC published a list of 14 Russian athletes admitted to the Olympics, explaining that it may be replenished in the future. There are 10 Russian wrestlers on the list, of which only two are leaders. However, Olympic champions Abdurashid Sadulayev and Zavur Uguev were not allowed to participate in the Olympic Games.

“He told me he wouldn’t perform. I just said it now. This is sad news, sad. We just spoke on the phone. He says: “Like this and like this, Muhammad.” He had a very serious injury, and he got over it,” Naimov told SE.

Earlier, the media reported that Olympic champion Sidakov plans to try his hand at the UFC after the Games in Paris. Naimov has already promised his friend to provide all possible support in his first steps in MMA.

Tomorrow an official decision will be made whether Russian wrestlers will perform in Paris, or boycott and not perform in Paris at all.
