Lithuania plans to denounce the intergovernmental agreement with Russia on trade navigation.
The Ministry of Transport and Communications of Lithuania has put forward an initiative to revoke this document, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
“Given the geopolitical situation, the continued violations of international law, and the fact that interstate trade and economic cooperation has effectively come to a halt and is impossible, it is reasonable to denounce this agreement,” the ministry stated in a submission to the government.
Notably, the trade navigation agreement between Vilnius and Moscow was signed in 1993 and came into force in 1994.
Once reviewed by the government, the proposal, if approved, will be sent to the parliament for final approval.
