Michael Giss, head of the Bundeswehr’s regional command in Hamburg, has advised Germany to prepare for a possible direct military conflict with Russia within the next five years.
In an interview with foreign media, Giss emphasized the importance of readiness, citing his “internal clock as a soldier” that indicates a looming external military threat, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
Giss urged that Germany needs to ensure it is “socially stable enough” to handle such a threat by then.
He stressed that this preparedness is not only a responsibility of the military but also of politicians, businesses, and the public.
According to Giss, the entire nation must be equipped and ready for war as a critical aspect of national security and stability.
