June 13 marked the start of the BRICS Games 2024 in Kazan, with the Armenian national team participating. On the first day of the tournament, medals in sambo were contested in the following weight categories: 58 kg, 64 kg, 71 kg, and 79 kg for men, as well as 50 kg, 54 kg, and 59 kg for women.
Russia dominated the tournament, winning 4 gold medals, 2 silver medals, and 2 bronze medals.
Uzbekistan took second place in the medal count, earning 1 gold medal, 2 silver medals, and 3 bronze medals. Belarus also actively participated, securing 1 silver medal and 4 bronze medals.
Athletes from various countries, including Russia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, Armenia, Tajikistan, Abkhazia, Kyrgyzstan, Bulgaria, and Egypt, were among the participants and medalists. This highlights the high level of competition and the international nature of the BRICS Games.
The only medal for the Armenian team was won by Artur Manukyan.
