The World U-17 Freestyle Wrestling Championship will be held in the capital of Jordan from August 19 to 25. After the Olympic Games, the question arose: will Russian wrestlers of other age categories be allowed to go to the world championships? As was written on the official website of the United World Wrestling – Russian wrestlers were included in the preliminary list of participants who will take part in the world championship among boys under 17.

At the last continental tournament, Russian wrestlers won 10 medals out of 10 possible, of which 6 were gold. However, it is worth noting that almost the entire composition of the team was changed, with the exception of two participants: Jamal Bakaev (weight category up to 45 kg), European Champion, and Aldat Kesaev (weight category up to 80 kg), also European Champion.
