21-year-old tennis player Elina Avanesyan could not finish the final of the WTA-250 tournament in Iasi (Romania) due to injury and lost to 17-year-old Russian Mirra Andreeva with a score of 7-5, 5-7, 0-4 (Avanesyan’s retirement in the third set).
The match between the representatives of Russia lasted 2 hours and 22 minutes. Avanesyan, who is ranked 76th in the world, reached the final of a WTA-250 tournament for the first time in her career.
After her triumph in Romania, Mirra Andreeva will go to the Olympic Games in Paris, where she will compete as part of the Russian team (under neutral status).
It should be noted that Elina Avanesyan will soon change her sports citizenship and will represent Armenia.
